Welcome

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce Haberdashers’ Adams to you and thank you for expressing an interest in our school.

I firmly believe that any school should be the sum of the parts. This is especially true of Adams. On the pages of this site you will hopefully get a glimpse of what we have to offer and appreciate our values and what we stand for. Our philosophy is simple and hasn’t changed much for many years: we want to develop confident, articulate young men and women who are interesting, balanced and who care for each other.

We think we offer an outstanding learning experience but we are so much more than just our examination results. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, the outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey as well as the destination of our pupils that is key to our success. This means we focus on many aspects of the development of our young people – we recognise the importance of developing a strong sense of belonging and believe in educating the whole person and teaching traditional values. By encouraging pupils to take part in the wide variety of activities available, we can nurture their leadership qualities, promote high moral values and encourage excellent communication skills. We want our pupils to be simultaneously competitive, co-operative and caring, as this will ultimately prepare them for life.

At Adams we have high standards and we expect the same of our pupils; we want them to be ambitious for their own development, and apply themselves to their studies with intellectual curiosity and academic endeavour. The celebration of success is important to us and we take every opportunity to commend our pupils for their achievements, whether they be at house, school, regional or national level. Our pupils are an inspiration to others around them.

Education is a lifelong journey, and we have the privilege of being able to prepare young men and women for the next part of that journey. If you share our values and aims and are interested in learning more about Adams then I invite you to pay us a visit, meet some of our inspirational pupils and spend some time with us in school.

Black Forest German Trip 2023

Arnav Agarwal, 7D, reports back on The Black Forest German Trip 2023

The journey to The Black Forest was no less than arduous however the time there was definitely worth it! We got to the hotel in Rust at around 20:30 and the first dinner was a very welcoming pasta dish which went down well after the long journey. That night was close to the best sleep I’ve ever had.

On the first full day we visited a beautiful castle with extremely interesting artefacts including a well with coins inside and a fascinating scaled down model of the castle. After lunch (which we made ourselves at breakfast) we departed for the European Parliament. When we got there, we were welcomed by our tour guide who showed us the room where all the countries gather for meetings and a 360-degree movie which was very cool. When we were finished there, we went into Strasbourg for some shopping. Although I didn’t buy much, I still had a great time was because I got to spend a lot of time shopping with my friends which was extremely fun. To finish of a great day, we had a delicious meal of chicken wings waiting for us back at the hotel.

The next day we were up for a 7:30 start. After breakfast we were off to the open-air museum where we saw a lot of farm animals, including a rather large cow and a tasty looking chicken. However, the best of the open-air museum was when we made butter! After this we enjoyed a 17-minute return cable car ride which displayed great views of the Black Forest. The cable car ride had to be one of the best activities we did there. Next, we went to the mining museum; this wasn’t my favourite place as there was a lot of standing. however, it was good we went, because a lot of the others really loved it. In the afternoon, we departed for Freiburg which was very similar to Strasbourg and I bought a lot of Lindt chocolate!  After another long day we went to sleep.

And then finally the time had come for EUROPA-PARK!!!!!!!!!! At first, I was terrified of the silver star but thanks to Mr Williams I conquered my fears and ended up having the time of my life. Europa-Park was by far the 'funnest' place I’ve ever been, and the rides were top notch. Europa-Park was a great way to end an amazing trip and I thank Frau Crowe, Mrs Kwan, Mrs Upton, Mr Williams, Mr Fernando and Mrs Wilson for taking us.
