Once AS-level exams and internal summer exams are concluded, the focus is very much on life after Adams. Progression Week gives Lower Sixth pupils an insight into the variety of options available to them after their A-levels and the steps needed to get them there.
Informative talks on UCAS personal statements, CVs, interviews and student finance are core components of the week alongside a wide variety of elective sessions. These range from AI in the workplace, careers in construction, non-patient healthcare roles, using LinkedIn.
Each year we welcome a variety of speakers to share their knowledge of university, gap years, apprenticeships and the jobs market. We are especially pleased to welcome back Old Novaportans who love to return and share their experience and knowledge with those following in their footsteps.
The well attended Apprenticeship Forum was made up of six ONs from the class of 2024. They answered questions on their experiences at Vodafone, EY, JLR, BAE Systems and Schneider Electric. ON Professor David Armstrong (2001) from Oxford University gave valuable advice on applying to competitive STEM courses. Andrew Jones, former Head of Design & Technology (2003-2018) at Adams and ON James Croxford (2005) both from Harper Adams University spoke about Careers in Engineering.

ON Alexia Balan (2023) shared her amazing gap year experience with Project Trust, teaching in Honduras. She is now reading Psychology in Education at the University of Bristol. ON Ben Wiser (2023) opened up the world of entrepreneurship as a viable option. He is reading Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath whilst running the award-winning sports app builder Element 16 Media, which he founded in 2021.
We look forward to seeing which pathways the Class of 2026 take and will be supporting them on their journeys to get there.
