The 1st VII recorded a historic netball win at the annual Haberdashers' Netball Tournament, for the first time since it's inception in 2011.
Mrs Jones recorded the day's action:
On 18th April, the first and second netball teams competed in the Haberdashers Netball Tournament. Both teams put on a superb display of netball with matches played to a high standard and the competition tight for most matches. The 2nd team played fantastically, as one of only two second teams in the competition, competing against the first teams from every school. They played especially well against our first team, taking the match to them and putting the pressure on throughout!
The 1st team went into the tournament with a competitive mindset; determined to finish the season on a high. A close game against a strong Abraham Darby side saw Adams pull away to win 15-11. They ticked off the other games one by one, with shooters showing great movement in the circle, the centre court playing with composure and accuracy throughout, and defense turning the ball over. It came down to the game against Monmouth 1sts, which was to be the tournament decider. Adams came out strong and had an outstanding first half leading at 7-3. In the second half, Monmouth began to work out how to neutralise our attack and started to chip away at our lead drawing it back to 7-5. Essential interceptions were needed by the defence and they stepped up to the plate to see the team win 9-7. It was a true team effort across the whole tournament that secured this victory.
What a very fitting end to a superb season. The spoils have historically been shared between Elstree and Monmouth but now Adams will be engraved on the cup.
In future years, we look forward to entering U13 and U15 teams into the event as we become fully co-ed.
