A new flagpole now stands on the lawn in front of Big School - yet the flag flying is a familiar sight! Once again, the black and white of Talbot House flies high, celebrating the house’s remarkable achievement in winning the Chaloner Cup 2025 - a record fifth consecutive win.
The house system sits at the heart of life at Haberdashers’ Adams, encouraging teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition across all year groups. The Chaloner Cup - named in honour of the school’s first Headmaster, Thomas Chaloner - recognises the effort, participation, and success of each house across a programme of twenty-two house events over a twelve-month period.
Talbot’s triumph was driven by outstanding performances in the large, whole school events, that carry more weight, where they consistently demonstrated both depth of talent and collective determination. Talbot secured victories in Cross Country, Rugby 15s and Rugby 7s. They also earned strong second‑place finishes in Swimming, Athletics, Pentathlon, Basketball and Hockey. This impressive run of results ensured Talbot remained ahead of Webb House who were a very close second.
A spirit of commitment and camaraderie defines the house system at Haberdashers’ Adams.
