Welcome

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce Haberdashers’ Adams to you and thank you for expressing an interest in our school.

I firmly believe that any school should be the sum of the parts. This is especially true of Adams. On the pages of this site you will hopefully get a glimpse of what we have to offer and appreciate our values and what we stand for. Our philosophy is simple and hasn’t changed much for many years: we want to develop confident, articulate young men and women who are interesting, balanced and who care for each other.

We think we offer an outstanding learning experience but we are so much more than just our examination results. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, the outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey as well as the destination of our pupils that is key to our success. This means we focus on many aspects of the development of our young people – we recognise the importance of developing a strong sense of belonging and believe in educating the whole person and teaching traditional values. By encouraging pupils to take part in the wide variety of activities available, we can nurture their leadership qualities, promote high moral values and encourage excellent communication skills. We want our pupils to be simultaneously competitive, co-operative and caring, as this will ultimately prepare them for life.

At Adams we have high standards and we expect the same of our pupils; we want them to be ambitious for their own development, and apply themselves to their studies with intellectual curiosity and academic endeavour. The celebration of success is important to us and we take every opportunity to commend our pupils for their achievements, whether they be at house, school, regional or national level. Our pupils are an inspiration to others around them.

Education is a lifelong journey, and we have the privilege of being able to prepare young men and women for the next part of that journey. If you share our values and aims and are interested in learning more about Adams then I invite you to pay us a visit, meet some of our inspirational pupils and spend some time with us in school.

Each year Haberdashers’ Adams competes in the prestigious King Henry VIII Relays, held in Coventry. Last year, the team finished 46th overall out of teams from across the country. This year, the team improved by 24 places to finish 22nd overall and thus earning the trophy for the most improved team.

Shropshire Schools Cross Country

The Year 7 squad finished a respectable 3rd. The junior team, comprising runners in Years 8 & 9, retained the overall trophy from last year. Meanwhile, the Intermediate Team - Years 10 & 11 wrested the cup from Shrewsbury School who have won it every year since 2010!

On the back of their individual results, Jonathan Y, Seb O, Will H, Arthur P and Dylan W-Y have been selected to run for Shropshire.

Rugby
U13 Rugby

For me, this season has gone well. We began with a win against Abraham Darby. Then we had wins and losses going up and down against The Grange School, Ellesmere College and KEF. We played OSH, dominating that game 65-10; we were gaining confidence and skill. Then KES Aston came to us and it was another big win. We were on a roll now as we headed to Camp Hill with confidence. Another win under our belt meant we were into our first County Cup fixture, against our local rivals Abraham Darby, where we came out on top in a great 45-10 win. Going back to our Saturday matches, we played away at NULS and didn’t produce the performance we wanted, but still showed great passion. We got back on track with a great win against Wrekin College at home. Throughout the season, despite some losses, we have showed fight, spirit and skill in all of our games. We head into our final County Cup group stage match with great confidence. by Captain Will J in Year 8

U15 Rugby

After the Christmas break, we began by facing Shrewsbury School away. We won 28-5 with tries from Luther and Aiden. Next, we faced Corbet in our first match of the County Cup which we won 43-0 with tries from Angola, Mathew, Aiden and Ketan. The following week, we faced St Ambrose in a game ending in a 5-55 loss. This was one of our toughest defeats of the season but the team still played well, with a standout try from Daniel, whilst missing some key players. In our final Saturday fixture of the season, we faced Bishop Vesey in a tight game ending 21-12 with tries from Daniel and Min Yen. This was the best the team had played defensively the whole season, and we were very proud to finish off our season with a great game. We still have the next round of County Cup and 7’s to look forward to in the coming months. by Captain Tristan S in Year 10
