Important Info
The school day for all pupils starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.45pm. No pupil in Years 7-11 may leave the school premises between these times without permission. All pupils need to register at 8.55am and 1.40pm. Sixth Form pupils may go into town during break and lunchtimes but must scan in/out at reception using their ID card. Except in the case of significant illness, no pupil may be absent from school, or a school period unless permission has been previously obtained from the Headmaster.
If a pupil is absent due to illness parents must notify the Attendance Officer, either via e-mail – absence@adamsgs.uk or leaving a message on the school answer phone – 01952 953812, before 8:50am, each day the child is ill. Absences of 5 or more days must be supported by medical evidence. More details on our Absence Policy can be found in the Pupil Handbooks.
Term Time Leave
The granting of leave of absence in term time is, by law, a matter for consideration and decision by the Headmaster. There is no automatic right to any leave in term time. The Department for Education (DfE) and Telford & Wrekin Local Authority (LA) policy is that leave should not be taken in school term time. Where such requests are made, for the leave to be granted, the Headmaster should decide if there are exceptional circumstances. Each case will be considered individually and on its own merits. Parents need, therefore, to consider very carefully before making any request for leave in term time.
Parents wishing the school to consider granting leave in term time should complete the Request Form and submit it at least four weeks before the leave in term time requested dates to allow sufficient time for appropriate consideration. Parents are strongly advised not to finalise any planned absence before receiving the school’s decision regarding their request.
