Welcome

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce Haberdashers’ Adams to you and thank you for expressing an interest in our school.

I firmly believe that any school should be the sum of the parts. This is especially true of Adams. On the pages of this site you will hopefully get a glimpse of what we have to offer and appreciate our values and what we stand for. Our philosophy is simple and hasn’t changed much for many years: we want to develop confident, articulate young men and women who are interesting, balanced and who care for each other.

We think we offer an outstanding learning experience but we are so much more than just our examination results. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, the outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey as well as the destination of our pupils that is key to our success. This means we focus on many aspects of the development of our young people – we recognise the importance of developing a strong sense of belonging and believe in educating the whole person and teaching traditional values. By encouraging pupils to take part in the wide variety of activities available, we can nurture their leadership qualities, promote high moral values and encourage excellent communication skills. We want our pupils to be simultaneously competitive, co-operative and caring, as this will ultimately prepare them for life.

At Adams we have high standards and we expect the same of our pupils; we want them to be ambitious for their own development, and apply themselves to their studies with intellectual curiosity and academic endeavour. The celebration of success is important to us and we take every opportunity to commend our pupils for their achievements, whether they be at house, school, regional or national level. Our pupils are an inspiration to others around them.

Education is a lifelong journey, and we have the privilege of being able to prepare young men and women for the next part of that journey. If you share our values and aims and are interested in learning more about Adams then I invite you to pay us a visit, meet some of our inspirational pupils and spend some time with us in school.

Habs Aspire - Now at Adams

Launched at Haberdashers’ Hall in November 2024, the Habs Aspire mentoring programme connects Sixth Form students with professionals from the Haberdashers’ extensive membership and community networks. It aims to build confidence, increase awareness of different career paths and give Sixth Form students practical support and advice as they move into the wider world. It’s about opening doors and helping our Sixth Form see what’s possible

Habs Aspire was rolled out to The Haberdashers’ West Midlands Academies Trust in 2025 with a successful pilot scheme that ran for thirty students at Abraham Darby.

In 2026 we are delighted that the programme is now expanding into Adams. Aspire Co-Ordinator for HWMAT, Mrs Ferry delivered an assembly to the Lower Sixth in October and interested students were invited to submit an application.

Success Stories
  • A Year 12 student with aspirations to go into marketing was paired with the Managing Director of a local PR agency. Following several mentoring sessions, she secured a week of hands-on work experience as she transitioned into Year 13.
An aspiring marine biologist was connected with a professional at a marine and environmental research facility in Devon. Her mentor was able to signpost her to fantastic opportunities, including a summer programme.
    Student Feedback

You don't need to have your entire life figured out to benefit from a mentor. Whether exploring options or stepping out of a comfort zone, the feedback has been great:

  • "I was matched with a mentor who had a range of different experiences. She helped me to explore my options and gain confidence in my next steps."
  • "At first I was nervous about meeting my mentor, as I am a naturally shy person and talking to someone older than me felt intimidating. However, we quickly found we had several things in common, and it was useful to chat about my options and how to figure out my next steps with someone who has experience of going through the same processes as me.
Become a Mentor

We're looking for passionate professionals to become mentors for the Aspire Programme at the Haberdashers’ West Midlands Academies Trust.

Mentoring is one of the most rewarding ways to give back, helping a student gain confidence, develop career skills, and realise their potential!

  • The Commitment: Minimum of four 1-hour mentoring sessions across the year with your mentee (January-December).
Format & Timing: Sessions are conducted via an online platform (Mon-Fri, 8:00am - 8:00pm). Last year, some staff mentors chose to meet their mentees in person at school instead of virtually. You and your mentee arrange dates directly.
The Match: You will be paired with a Year 12 student based on career goals and interests. You can choose to mentor a student from the Trust or open it up to any Haberdashers' school.
