Welcome

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce Haberdashers’ Adams to you and thank you for expressing an interest in our school.

I firmly believe that any school should be the sum of the parts. This is especially true of Adams. On the pages of this site you will hopefully get a glimpse of what we have to offer and appreciate our values and what we stand for. Our philosophy is simple and hasn’t changed much for many years: we want to develop confident, articulate young men and women who are interesting, balanced and who care for each other.

We think we offer an outstanding learning experience but we are so much more than just our examination results. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, the outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey as well as the destination of our pupils that is key to our success. This means we focus on many aspects of the development of our young people – we recognise the importance of developing a strong sense of belonging and believe in educating the whole person and teaching traditional values. By encouraging pupils to take part in the wide variety of activities available, we can nurture their leadership qualities, promote high moral values and encourage excellent communication skills. We want our pupils to be simultaneously competitive, co-operative and caring, as this will ultimately prepare them for life.

At Adams we have high standards and we expect the same of our pupils; we want them to be ambitious for their own development, and apply themselves to their studies with intellectual curiosity and academic endeavour. The celebration of success is important to us and we take every opportunity to commend our pupils for their achievements, whether they be at house, school, regional or national level. Our pupils are an inspiration to others around them.

Education is a lifelong journey, and we have the privilege of being able to prepare young men and women for the next part of that journey. If you share our values and aims and are interested in learning more about Adams then I invite you to pay us a visit, meet some of our inspirational pupils and spend some time with us in school.

Sports Round Up Summer 2026

Athletics

Our athletics teams have shown great determination in team competitions where every performance counts, from the top performers to those scoring valuable points further down the field.

The season began with the Year 10 team winning their Telford & Wrekin Schools competition, the Year 9 team finishing second and the Year 8 mixed team coming fourth. Both our U13 and U15 boys qualified for the Shropshire Schools Team Finals and went on to became Shropshire champions.

Three athletics squads represented Adams at the Haberdashers’ Athletics competition in Oxford, where they competed against other Haberdashers’ Schools from across the country. The U13 girls achieved 11 podium finishes, the U13 boys 18 podium finishes, and the U15 boys 17 podium finishes. Most impressively, both the U13 and U15 boys won their respective age groups.

At the Shropshire Schools Individual Championships, we once again came away with many medals across all age groups:

  • Year 7: Erin-Mae, Kieran and Seb and Nathan
  • Year 8: Lana, Dan, James, Ed, Freddie, Lok and Charlie
  • Year 9: Jonathan and Stan
  • Year 10: Avneesh, Konrad, and Ian
  • Sixth Form: Benedict, Ephraim, Damian, Alvin, and Sophie

Special congratulations to Alex K-Y and Seb O who both finished third in their age categories at the Shropshire Combined Events Championships, competing at a high level across multiple disciplines. Alex was part of the Shropshire Junior team at the regional combined events competition. The team won and will be heading to the national competition in September. Seb competed for the senior team and got an impressive PB in High jump - 168cm, a 14cm improvement.

The season ended with Ian Wang (200m) and Jonathan Yang (800m) competing in the English Schools’ Athletics Association Track & Field Championships at the Alexander stadium in Birmingham.

Cricket
Year 7 & 8 Girls

The girls have been developing their cricket skills in PE lessons and getting stuck in with House Cricket during Games afternoons. On 2nd July, two teams attended a 6-a-side softball festival run by Shropshire Cricket. The girls had a great afternoon playing against other girls’ teams and practicing their bowling, batting and fielding skills in a competitive yet friendly environment.

Year 9 Boys

The team had a season of mixed fortunes. They performed very well in matches against Wrekin and Wolverhampton Grammar school. In both games they dominated proceedings and won in fairly comfortable fashion. As a strong year group, they also managed to get a B team fixture against WGS, which shows the depth in cricket at Adams currently. In the cup, the team were unfortunate to draw Shrewsbury School in the first round. This was always going to be a tough game and even though the team created a lot of chances, they were not clinical enough and let Shrewsbury build a score that proved too big in the end. Well done on a positive season and roll on next year when they enter the national state school competition

Year 8 Boys

The team had an excellent run in the national cup competition. This started last year when they won the Bunbury Cup as a Year 7 team, beating a very strong Packwood Haugh side in the Shropshire final. This put them through to the next round this May where they played the winner of the Staffordshire competition, Denstone College. After a below-average batting performance, the boys did a fantastic job at bowling Destone out for only 42. The next round was the last 16 in the country and whilst the boys lost narrowly to Bromsgrove, they fought hard and left with their heads high. One of the umpires took the time to email the school to praise the team on their attitude and good sportsmanship throughout the match. This is a team to watch in the future.

Year 9 Boys

The U15 cricket team enjoyed a memorable campaign in the Knight/Stokes Competition, progressing all the way to the West Midlands regional final after a series of impressive performances.

The journey began in the group stages, where Adams topped their group with victories over both Burton Borough and Thomas Adams. The team displayed consistency with the ball and earning progression to the next round.

Confidence continued to grow in the county tournament. Adams produced another pair of strong performances to defeat Church Stretton and Bridgnorth Endowed, claiming the county title and booking their place at the regional finals.

The regional semi-final against Painsley Catholic College proved to be the most dramatic match of the season. In a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire, Adams held their nerve to secure victory from the very last ball of the match. The win sparked jubilant celebrations and ensured a place in the regional final. Sass P scored a superb 50 not out with excellent support from Dan B on 46 not out.

Awaiting them in the final was Lawrence Sheriff School from Warwickshire. Despite a determined effort and another competitive display, Adams fell just short against strong opposition, eventually losing by 15 runs. Josh H took 4 wickets and Dan B scored 50 not out. While the result was disappointing, it could not overshadow a fantastic.

Golf

We entered the Shropshire County Golf Championships for the first time. Adam, Toby, Tom, Abhay and Min Yen represented Adams at Shrewsbury Gold Club. The course was challenging with fast greens but an enjoyable day for all involved.
