The Adams experience is all about pupils being able to both fulfil and exceed their potential. We believe in educating the whole person and while academic results are important, we want a pupil’s time at school to be one in which they develop as a person by embracing the many opportunities we offer, both inside and outside the classroom, and trying as many new experiences as possible.
Every school says they are all about the well-rounded child but here this is no empty cliché. Good Schools Guide April 2018
In addition to the huge variety of opportunities available through the House system, we also offer a broad range of extra-curricular activities and while pupils may arrive with a firm idea about the activities they like doing, we will always encourage them to try something new so that they push themselves beyond their comfort zone.
Our clubs and societies include a thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and an active Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, enabling the natural spirit of adventure to be exploited to the full. There is even the chance to go flying for those that chose the CCF RAF. In contrast, clubs such as Art, Astronomy, Debating and Creative Writing allow students to immerse themselves in a subject they enjoy without the pressure of studying towards an exam.
The opportunities at Adams are limitless, and if you throw yourself into it as much as humanly possible your time here will be exceptional. Sixth Form pupil

For parents who may be unable to be at home to help their younger boys with their homework we offer a Prep Club. Pupils in Years 7-10 are picked up from school at the end of the school day, or at the end of their activity, and taken to Longford Hall which is home to our junior boarders. Each evening Prep Club members join in whatever activity has been planned for the boarders before having a hot two-course meal. After this the boys have a supervised prep session until 7.30pm when parents pick them up. You can find out more on our Prep Club page.
Learning outside the Classroom
Regular trips are organised throughout the school year to support the classroom learning, from field trips around the UK and theatre trips to university visits, lectures and national competitions. There are also opportunities to travel overseas through our French and German exchange programmes and our sport tours, with a recent rugby tour to Hong Kong and New Zealand and a hockey and netball tour to South Africa. Our annual ski trip in Europe is always very popular as too is our music tour of Australia, with students having the opportunity to perform with a school in Australia and showcase their musical talent in a number of venues.
